Shows closing, events happening, shows opening – a good week!
Last matinée for Dinner at Seven Thirty today and your last chance to see it. I’d say that it was easily one of the most physically beautiful shows I’ve worked on in a while – and I worked with Opera Atelier for years.
The Rise of Online Video
You Can Sleep When You’re Dead opens this Thursday – part choose your own adventure, part be terrified in Campbell House, it’s a reminder that Halloween is upon us and though there are many Halloween offerings, I am pretty sure this is the only one that is not just a play, and not just a haunted house – it’s a fantastic combination of both. Go see.
Wrecking Ball #15 Presents… For Russia With (Gay) Love
dirty butterfly from the folks at Bound to Create goes into previews on the 30th – it’s an incredibly powerful piece by Jamaican playwright Debbie Tucker Green and the B2C folks are giving it a thought-provoking re-envisioning from their smash hit run at the 2011 Toronto Fringe. Get some tickets.
Siminovitch Prize will be announced tomorrow night – need I say more?

Missed yesterday’s round-up, so here you go.
Also realized that starting Monday, we have a show or event a week opening for the next month and Arts Day at the City and on the Hill coming up in November. Which is AWESOME on many levels, but consider this an apology for what might be less frequent blog postings. If you want to see what I’m working on, and the superduper shows and the people involved you can look here.
We’re halfway through our course at Ryerson on marketing for the arts and tomorrow is the last in a series of three workshops I’ve been doing with DTRC/AHA. It has been a great opportunity to work closely and consistently with some good artists doing good events. Thanks to DTRC and AHA for the opportunity.
I will write as often as I can. (that sounds very Civil War era, but you know what I mean)

And here we go. But first!
I follow an interesting blog called Seven Sentences – it’s just that – once a day, seven sentences on a topic. Last week there was one on Greatness and it stuck with me.
Greatness is NOT about perfection, it’s about the purity of voice and the singleness of action.
Yet it is not about “self” either, greatness is best defined by the impact that it has on others.
I would add one thing – unless you realize the sheer amount of work it takes to be great, unless you are willing to commit to that – then please be content with being good or even really good. Because great? Takes more than talk or wishing. Great takes work.
ONWARD – it was a sort week so there you go.

No Need to Fall Back into the Arms of the Person Behind You
We’re also in the midst of updating the Current Projects page (fall is looking fantastic for cool stuff to work on) and we have a new page called PFAQS .

Things are ramping back up again for the fall, and I’m starting to work on shows with Bound to Create Theatre and Obsidian Theatre and Theatre Rusticle and Modern Times Stage Company, and adding in a three-part social media workshop with DTRC/Artist’s Health Centre this fall and teaching at Ryerson again, also in fall and putting a few more irons in the fire for September.
A reminder It’s Always You has two more shows as part of Best Fringe up at the TCA. And then that’s it!
Last week was a bit of a visual and aural week, as words weren’t quite doing it for me. Here you go!
Live Love Art… Vive l’amour de l’art…

it’s the LabCab Festival: Parkdale!
What Should I Read Next? Here You Go!
Quick video to remind us that even things that are possible the dullest thing to watch can benefit from a good ad. Love it.

Easy roundup this week covering all sorts of things Fringe. The Fringe Club is rocking, some great bands playing, some great plays showing and visual and wearable art all over the place – have you gotten your signature Fringe collection jewelry yet?

What’s Going On
What I’m Seeing
Clearly I need to book a couple of other shows today.
Busy week fitting in regular work with Fringe fun and festivities, but am delighted to report that Bound to Create and Obsidian Theatre Company are working together on a remount of last year’s Fringe hit Dirty Butterfly, and I’m on board to work with them – I did the marketing and PR for that first incarnation and am thrilled to come back for round two that combines two companies I love.
Same week had me in a meeting with Theatre Rusticle and we’re on for their fall production of Dinner’s at Seven Thirty over at Buddies – it’s shaping up to be a great fall, theatre-wise, and we’re still Fringing!
