Sue Edworthy (BFA Spec. Hons 1995)
I started Sue Edworthy Arts Planning because I care deeply about the arts and the people who make them.
After more than twenty years working inside Toronto’s vibrant performing arts scene—including roles with organizations like Luminato, Opera Atelier, Theatre Passe Muraille, and Expect Theatre—I saw talented people doing extraordinary work, but struggling to tell their story or reach the audiences who would love what they do. So I built a consulting practice that lets me help.
I bring strategy, clarity, and marketing expertise to artists and arts organizations who want to grow their impact without losing their soul. Whether it’s a fresh audience development plan, a long-term roadmap, or campaign coaching, I help people shape their vision and share it.
Along the way, I’ve served on the boards of The Toronto Fringe (for seven years), the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts, and the Canadian Dance Assembly, and worked on multiple editions of Artsvote. I’ve taught marketing and social media at Humber College, Toronto Metropolitan University, and the University of Toronto Scarborough, and have led over 50 workshops across Ontario.
A proud member of Arts Consultants Canada, I’m also honoured to have received the Harold Award, the CharPR Prize for best publicity (2012 and 2013), and the Leonard McHardy and John Harvey Award for Arts Leadership.
I believe in art as a force for connection and change. My work is about making sure that force is seen, heard, and felt.
I believe in the power of the arts to connect, inspire, and transform communities. With over 25 years in the sector, I bring creative strategy, integrity, and clarity to every project.
My mission is simple : To help artists and organizations do great work—and make sure the right people see it.
